Re: Fuel Probs

Hello Paul,Reading another post I see you have an IP11. Same rules apply as this uses the same carb's and fuel filter arrangment of a Commander.Does your fuel tank suck in air when you open the filler cap? Could be a blocked breather. Regards, Joe.

Re: Fuel Probs

Hello Paul, You don't say what bike you are having trouble with. If you have a plastic in line fuel filter, remove it and check the inlet and outlet spouts have not reduced in size. This is now a very common problem and most likely down to modern ethanal fuels which soften the plastic. About 7 years...

Re: Best Intercom

Hello Tony, My misses still makes hand gestures to me and I have an intercom. Anyway, the best intercom I ever had was an Autocom system. It was great quality, cristal clear and British made and all spares are available for a good price too. The only problem was my version was wired which I sometime...

Re: changing saddle

Hello Rinus,You'll need a dual seat for a start and that could be a problem plus you also require some sort of seat hum/body work to keep the seat in place. Graham had kits to convert the bike but I'm not sure he has any left. A Classic seat recently sold on line fo a reasonable sum and would have f...

Re: Coils on Commander

Hello Campbell, Yes I moved my coils away from the flow of water many years ago. It cured the problem of cutting out in heavey rain instantly which strangely my other Commander has never done. Anyway, I had to modify the coil sub wiring loom and use longer HT leads but it was an easy job. I repositi...

Hello Holger, Rotella DD40 hasn't been available for years in England in 20 Litres drums. We are lucky that the Rotary Owners Club can supply it by the Litre from two locations accross the country but that's not a lot of help to you. The National Motorcycle Museum bought it, so at least I didn't have to take it back home with me (it's not mine, I was just the delivery man). I was interested in the Münch Mammut Lot No. 152 ( I think ) and was expecting it to reach around £50,000.00 but it did considerably better at £75,000.00 so ...

Hello Ian, Welcome to the club and back to rotary ownership. You bought a lovely bike there, I always admired Daves work on this bike. Very clever to use the original cast wheel hubs after machining the rims off and fit spokes. I think if Norton had made this model it would have sold well. Enjoy the...

Re: Commander hot rear wheel

Hello Paul, Another thought occurred to me today on my way home from work and this is from first hand experience on my F1 Sport. If the white metal bearing (or DU bush, I think) is worn on the rear caliper mounting plate it may allow enough play for the caliper body to just touch the disc which will...

Re: left hand rotor oil bias

Hello Fogrider, Both of my Commanders smoke on the left hand side, one has only 70,000 miles whilst the other has nearly 200,000 miles so not surprising that this one smokes a little. I always cover the rear brake when stationary so have my left foot down which may incourage oil to deposit on the L/...
