Re: gearbox oil

Ok,so maybe "crap"was a bit strong,(and maybe Mr Page had a good one,)but the quality control at Quaff did leave a lot to be desired, and I'm not the only rotary rider who commented on the 3rd&4th gear whine,J.B.

Re: gearbox oil

Re: Interpol II for sale

Hi Trev, only on water cooled rotories can one expect high mileage of 100,000+ after mollying. If memory serves,my own Classic sorely needed re-mollying after about 50,000 and should have been done about 10,000 miles earlier (according to Malk Stanly Esq who was the chief mechanic for the Derby Poli...

I've put clutches back on a number of occasions and never thought to smear them with oil (seeing as they would get well oiled the first time the clutch was engaged)but if it makes you feel better go for it Very HappyJ.B.

Yep, you will need a clutch compressor,It is easy enough, but do take care as fingers can be lost,'(cos the pressure on the plates is somewhat fierce)J.B.

Re: advice 0n tt1 not wiring

Hi Trev, You didn't mention what bike you have but if it helps, the original Boyer on my Classic didn't last that many thousands of miles(4 or 5?),but this was due to where the Boyer was mounted,(back to back with the VCR)which as you are probably aware, do get rather warm evil, and because they wer...

Hi Jerome, As I have mentioned a couple of posts ago on this subject,I replaced the original Boyer ignition system on my Classic with a Minimag one,and I had no problem at all,as to the difference? the Boyer system is a square box like shape as apposed to the Minimag which is more longer and thinner...

Re: Hello to the 588 community

Hi Jerome, From what I can remember from my Classic(NoLE029)the original Electronic Ignition Unit was the same as the IP2's(but I could be wrong)I distinctly remember because it was so very different from the replacement one from Minimag. When putting a Norton Rotory in to "long time storage&qu...

Hi Jerome,
Welcome to the club Very Happy.
At 130deg's,seems like your Classic is running a bit warm,(if memory servs my old Classic used to run at 100&110)even so,it still shouldn't stall, what is the engine idle speed set at?( should be between 800&1000rpm.)rgds,J.B.
