Re: Single battery on Commander ?
I know someone who has done this, with no obvious problems.Seems no reason why it shouldn't be fine provided overall capacity is at least as good as the original one. I believe IP2s weren't over-capacitied with battery power, having only one but a modern gel battery should be fine.

Re: IP2 Sprague clutch
My Commander has got through five sprag clutches over the years and has always displayed these symptoms when it's on the way out. Eventually the starter spins more than it grips and bump starting a Commander is not a recreational activity. You can indeed do the above but given that the sprag is shagg...

Re: commander battery leads
Well, I've looked at mine, which is the way it rolled out of Shenstone in 1992.The LH battery earth lead runs down to the engine mounting bolt at the top of the gearbox. And the RH lead goes through the frame to the engine mounting bolt also. The two leads only meet at this point.Don't know if they ...

Re: Commander overheating
Couldn't agree more about the coupling. I'm far from an expert but it looks like a classic case of cheapo bodgery to me! The only time this bike has ever let me down on the road has been that coupling's fault!A Blue Peter badge to the man who can fix it.I've replaced six pumps over the years and nev...

Commander overheating
Chaps, I have a problem with my Commander that puzzles me. I've had it since 1995 and although it has always been ready to run hot I have never had this problem before.I had a water pump fail when the Oldham coupling at the pump shaft end broke. Graham rebuilt the pump for me and supplied the new pa...

Re: Head shakes.
Interesting point about the Honda head bearing change. What made somebody think to do it in the first place? Isn't the easiest assumption that Mr Honda knows his bikes pretty well and would fit competent parts to them? Why would anybody think that Honda would have got this wrong, or that such a simpl...

Re: Head shakes.
My Commander did this on worn Avons, years ago. Since then only BT45s have been on and it's never done it since. You seem to have done all the obvious, so how about the less so; are the tyres fitted properly, and round? Is everything really fitted right, or just new - not always the same thing. Is an...

I'm in too.I've also had the 'we're reconsidering' response from Rosemary Mellor. The reason Fuchs are considering discontinuation is due to poor sales. Many, many thanks. You may just have saved a marriage. You just don't damage a man's motorcycle. I need a RH panel, ideally just needing paint but I can handle some repairs. Could you let me know how much you'd want for one? PM me if appropriate. Thanks again,Ian.

Wanted: Commander RH fairing panel
Hello all. Due to SWMBO being entirely blind, I need a RH fairings panel for my Commander. Despite it being big and red, she managed to drive her car over it and it is now in three pieces. How big it had to be for her to see it is undefined. So, anybody out there have a useable RH fairing panel? I c...

Re: Voltage regulator
Hello all.Well, see my posts above for symptome, but I can say that a new regulator fixed the problem. It was a b****rd job though. I never knew those lads at Shenstone had such small fingers and three baby-sized hands... Cue for jokes, but it would be unworthy. The bike ran fine, just boiled battery...
