Re: Reclaiming rotary engine components.

Dear all, I have had a word with Graham and Anthony at startrights and it's a pleasure to talk to two enthusiasts who are trying to do so much, run a business but also try and explore opportunities with rotary components (and everything else in between). I tentatively asked whether they would be int...

Re: Reclaiming rotary engine components.

Dear all, just had a look at the Facebook page with the wife's permission and there seems to be a lot of people building specials, restoring bikes etc so I would be amazed if there isn't a wealth of information regarding spares/remanufactured parts/alternatives. I guess the first point of call would...

Re: Reclaiming rotary engine components.

Gents, I know we are probably a small group (I don't know exactly how many members) but maybe we should take a more proactive approach and form a rotary owners club tooling committee to address the issue. I am a member of the stag owners club ( I know they have a far bigger membership) and their com...

Re: Air cooled mods

Thanks for the comments Charles/John, it's not that I am not interested in variable overlap but I am a visual learner and get lost without a drawing or a picture! smiley Take your point John about the voltage regulator. Although I have replaced mine and everything seems fine it is still strapped clo...

Air cooled mods

Dear all, my classic replica is getting nearer to the top of Grahams to do list and I have been pondering over not only the repair but also some upgrades. Although I have learned to live with the erratic cold start of the rotary I believe the new ignition box is a worthwhile consideration but would ...

Re: Southern Classic Kempton park 2017

Paul, it's a no go unfortunately as the bike is still with Graham. If you have a reserve in mind then please try and contact them as I would hate for someone to misout.
Sorry for the very late confirmation and I hope everyone enjoys the day.
Kind regards

Re: Southern Classic Kempton park 2017

Hi Paul, there is a distinct possibility that my Roary will not be ready for Kempton as Graham is struggling to get the bike finished for another five to six weeks due to work load. Graham said he would try and get the bike prepared but it's not looking good so if there is anyone else who wanted to ...

Re: Insurance

There is a bit of a theme going on here with increased premiums connected with poor service so the only thing you can do is vote with your feet and try someone else. Looks from johns experience that PJ'S are on the ball with support so will give them the business next time round. This has been one m...

Re: Insurance

Thanks David, more than a bit annoying to be honest, rare sunny afternoon, I'd been out on my A65 and had a nice run out so decided to run the Norton up and was knocked off about a 1/4 of a mile from my house. Had lights on and hi viz but if they don't look in your direction I guess it doesn't make ...

John, the 650 engine is a prototype and still under development. AIE hope to make it eligible for road vehicles in the new year following further development, specifically around the exhaust. When they crack it people will be cueing up.All the bestRoy

Re: ROC Visit to AIE

Sounds good John, not fussed where we meet as long as we get there in good time. I am showing around 21/2 hours from bury st Edmunds if you go along the M 6 toll, so we would have to be at Cambridge services around 7:00 to 7:15 ish and that's not leaving a lot of slack for traffic/fuel stops. The ro...

Re: motometer tacho

John, how did the bike react at low speeds to the higher gearing, did you have to slip the clutch etc in traffic? I see that you changed it several thousand miles ago so must be reasonably happy with the set up? I upped the gearing on my old commando as I aways thought it 'sounded busy' at reasonabl...

Re: motometer tacho

Gents to give you an update:1) have added a voltage regulator which limits the supply to the Tacho to no more than 12v. Affect was that the tacho operation was smoother with it but the needle still fell dramatically over 4000 rpm (seemed worse on one coil than the other for some reason)2) on the adv...

Re: motometer tacho

Richard, the regulator was changed when I got the bike as it wasn't charging and the output is as you suggested 14v ( the same for most vehicles). The problem is manifesting itself when bench tested so the tacho does not seem to be able to cope with anything more than 12v. There may still be a fault...
