Re: Carb adjustment
Richard/Mick, I removed the cold start enrichment device on one of my carbs and found by spraying carb cleaner that there is a passage way from the cold start enrichment device to the jet as shown in Mick's photo. When I first acquired my Commander only the right hand carb had the brass jet, the lef...

Re: Carb adjustment
Mick,
I can confirm that the jet shown in your photo connects to the cold start enrichment device.
Incidentally, when I acquired my Commander the left carb did not have the jet but the right hand one did?

Mike, Like Tim I do a lot of long distance touring on my Commander, this year alone I have completed over 5000 miles mostly two up with camping gear, with holidays in Europe and the UK. Top heavy; no I would not have said they are, with a kerb weight of 235 KG they are certainly not a lightweight th...

Terry, I would like to keep my Commander on the road for as long as possible, living north of Aberdeen and touring Holland, Belgium and France this summer plus runs to GT Yarmouth etc etc I have so far covered nearly 5k miles this year, not a massive amount I know when compared to others but still g...

Re: HELP Commander Rear Chain Gaiter
All, I have managed to acquire two used but good gaiters from acquaintances within the ROC and NOC so I should be OK for a while, note that there are no new gaiters available. What concerns me is that without a supply of new gaiters my Commander would not be the long distance tourer I need, OK I cou...

HELP Commander Rear Chain Gaiter
Just got back from a trip to Cadwell Park and while there noticed oil on the rear wheel, once home got the bike on the lift and found the lower rear chain gaiter split and leaking at the wheel end. Andover Norton do not have any in stock, I have yet to ask Startright but in the meantime does anyone ...

JB, Moto electrical have a Mosfet RR for £132.90, it has 7 wires, three yellow, two red and two black, it has a max charging rate of 50 amps/500 watts far more than the output of your alternator so will work well within its max rating. The three yellow wires will be the connected to the alternator I...

John, If the volts drop off as it warms up I suspect the alternator insulation is breaking down shorting the windings. However if it was my problem I would ask an auto electrician to do the following: A. Measure and record the resistance of the stator windings cold, you will need a good meter for th...

John, The alternator on my Commander has an output of 220 watt, 12 volts 3 phase, any 3 phase 12 volt regulator/rectifier with an output of the same as the alternator will do what you want. Re: Commander breakdown.
Mark,
In Italy at the NOC rally one of the other Commanders had a similar problem when the trigger was overheating, if the trigger is OK I would suspect the electronic ignition.
How long have you owned your bike, what make of electronic ignition do you have?

John,
Approx 450 miles to a pint i.e 0.5 litre is about what I get from my Commander
Line up the marks of the lever and housing at 2000 RPM and you should not be far off

Richard,
Thanks again, excellent information.
I have set up the connections on both ignition units so that I can change them on the side of the road if I had to, I may swap back to the TT1 to check out the difference.
Thanks and Regards
