Re: Oils.

Hello Derek,First symptoms of the 'wrong' oil (Too many additives that turn to carbon?) Are sticky apex seals leading to a lack of compression at low RPM and a strange noise from the airbox that I don't kow how to describe. (Chock chock chock...)Continued use of a high carbon content oil eventually ...

Re: About to fire up F1 Sport after 3 years lay up

Take the plugs out and give it 5 to 10cc of Rotella DD, 2 stroke oil or whatever down each plug hole.Spin the engine for 10 to 20 seconds then refit the plugs.Remove the brass retainer nut from the oil pump cable (12mm spanner). Manually hold the oil pump cable on full whilst you attempt the initial...

What colour is the smoke? Is it white/ pale grey. In which case it's a carburettor either flooding or leaking past the choke O ring. It's not unusual for the choke O ring to suffer during cleaning if you don't remove the choke mechanism first. If the O ring fails, it allows neat fuel to flow freely i...

Why would drilled discs improve braking in the dry? I thought it just helped clear water in rainy weather. My simple brain looks at the surface area swept by the pad to decide how efficient a brake is. Taken to the (Illogical) Conclusion, if you drill the whole disc away, there will be no braking at ...

Hello Dave,Anything higher than 14.2 volts is too high. You've probably caught it just in time, the regulator side has failed but the rectifier is still working. Unlikely to be intermittent, just not so noticeable until you boil a battery, pop a headlight bulb or destroy an ignition box :-).Graham
