The previous owner is actually “active and highly respected NOC member” Paul Ralph…….who fettled my lovely Norton Commander and is a bit of an all-round rotary guru, in my eyes, at least……same chap who’s writing the definitive tome on Silk motor...

Went out and bought my 1st ever copy of 'Practical Sportsbikes' -- unbelievable / fantastic (from one who struggles to change a spark-plug). Amazing achievement. Congrats.

A well-priced Commander on Ebay.....(a) makes me wince when I think what I paid for mine (b) before I bought mine there were none to be found anywhere, after I've bought mine there are Norton rotaries for sale everywhere (eg MCN, roadandraceclassics, etc) !Keith.

Shockingly big price indeed……..when one considers that 2 weekends ago it was on Ebay with a starting price of £6k, a reserve of £7.5k, and I had an offer of £8k ‘provisionally accepted’ eg the seller had already accepted a bid and if the cash for that didn’t materialise, the bike would be mine……so o...

Well, how embarrassing......changed fuel pipes & filter, fuel tap, vacuum pipe.......bought new coils but baulked at the inaccessability of actually fitting them.....spoke to Paul Ralph again who gave me check-list of things to work thru: item 3 -- swap plugs for new......and hey presto she's ru...

Changed fuel pipes (not sure why I said 'pump' in previous post) and filter; pipes were old and needed replacing but weren't showing any obvious sign of ethanol degradation. Took the Commander out for a test ride......started fine but a mile from setting off I was going down a steep hill when it bac...
