Re: commander fuel consumption MPG
One of the few advantages of the Classic is the fuel tap can be reached while on the move ,(not sure about IP2's)Surely it's a bit risky running with the tap on reserve?silly me Commanders have a fuel gauge!ride safe,J.B.

Re: commander fuel consumption MPG
Adding to the above,I did a "Full tank to switching on reserve,(150 miles,)to running out of fuel,(another 30 miles)total, 180 miles, tank capacity,4 imp gallons,= 45 mpg.this was general highways,byways,m/ways ect;(needless to say I had a can of fuel in the top box for this little experiment)an...

Re: commander fuel consumption MPG
Don't know what quite happened there?? but to continue, most Commander riders that I talk to seem to get more mpg's than I do with my air cooled,(usualy about 45 of mixed up to 50 with lots of motorway& duel-carrigeway)so it would appear that your bike is a tad thirstier than is the norm, and like...

Re: Exhaust removal the hard way
The first time I had to remove the silencers from the manifold on my Classic there were no exhaust clamps, just a sliding fit,(the bike had only done 625miles)they were an absolute pig to remove!,and I was terified of fracturing the manifold, the next time(some 30,000+ miles later because the balance...

Hi guys, still on Classic carbs,my old girl has started to run even hotter than norm(even on the dampest of days,e.g. the run up to Skipton!)mentioning this to one of my biking buddies (who knows a thing or two about bikes) he sugested that because of the ethanol crap in petrol, the carbs may be runni...

Re: IP2 wiggle on
The variuos merrits of tubed verses tubeless begs the question, why did my Classic come from the factory fitted with tubeless tyres but with tubes in!? and also isn't there a good chance that the orriginal wheels fitted to the aircooled bikes would be porous by now? J.B.

Hi Mike, you said the Classic had been stored for ten years, had all the "Engine longterm storage instructions" been carried out before the old girl was laid up?even so, before you fired the old girl up did you squirt lots of oil in through the plug holes?turn the engine over slowly(in gear,...

Hi Dave,I too have recently had fun and games with the Regulaters&wiring on the Classic, and have about three wiring diagrams in the workshop,I will dig them out in the morning and get back to you,I am almost certain that the four?brown and white wires are not joined to the Red wire from the Regu...
