Re: Commander wobbles

Does it do that only when you lessen the weight of your arms on the handlebars? It may be that you have the wobble as in 'wobble & weave'; Dunlop (I think) produced a film with Murray Walker some years ago (featuring among others a Suzuki GT750 and a Laverda) and I think it was a case of, 'They a...

I have just heard from Jess Stockwell that Sam Costanzo passed away today.I do not know any more details, but I understand that he was suffering from cancer. Our thoughts go out to his family at this sad time.I know he will be missed by many in the rotary motorcycle world.

Hi Adam! The club does have members in Perth, WA - as well as in the others states. There are a few rotary Nortons in Australia, but RE5s and W2000s seem to predominate.Like the photo .... is it on your arm or your leg?David

Fuel Duty

I have just been sent this by one of the club members...When VAT was temporarily reduced to 15%, the Chancellor added 2% duty to fuel to offset the reduction in tax collected from motorists. Now that VAT has been increased to 17.5% again this hidden tax has not been removed - hence recent rises in y...

Quote from a bystander in Epping High Street on espying the W2000 ....'Ah! a Wankel! That's the engine with no moving parts, isn't it?' .... (and he was not making a joke)and anyone else with a Deek is bound to have had, 'Is it really 2000cc?'

Stuart Garner told me at the Donington Festival that Joe Seiffert refused to sell him any of the drawings for the 588cc Norton rotary, which sort of forced his hand to go the 'design it from scratch' route ... they must be quite busy at the Donington factory because the email I sent them in October ...

One system that gets around the problem is to get one of those cheap light plastic tax holders, and use that as a key fob! Whenever the keys are in the bike, so therefore is the Vehicle Excise Licence! Easy peasy ...Nowadays, whether a bike has a current VEL or is SORN'd is shown on the Police Natio...

F1 Hugger

The rear hugger on my F1 has developed some sloppiness caused it would seem by the rearmost securing bolts slackening off, allowing up & down play and in so doing, elongating the holes to ovals so now, no matter how tight they're done up, there's still some play. Before I go and get the Isopon a...

Derek, According to my records, 4001 is the first Commander (at least numerically) I do know ' Classic ' purchasers were given a choice of frame numbers - so they're not necessarily the order in which they were built) while 4309 seems to be the final one - although I believe Graham might have a Comm...
