Noisy Nortons

You could always have a fan-cooled motor, like the hill-climb car, with the compressor part of a turbochager driven by toothed belt from the generator rotor, using normal absorption silencers.\rThen of course there'll be the allegations that it's turbocharged !

Commander Manuals

Not that I'm one for advertising my own business on this forum - but a certain bunch of enthusiasts at Rugeley can supply you with an original glossy Illustrated Parts Catalogue, and bound photocopies of the Owners Handbook and the draft Workshop Manual.

Anyone seen an XR50 ?

Kart engine, that is.\rWater-cooled 294cc rotary, based on the Norton / Mid-West single rotor & built in Germany by Paul Woelfle and allegedly the dogs. See www.nova-racing.com .\rFrom photos, it appears to have a full-throttle by-pass of rotor cooling air, controlled by the sort of vacuum advan...

Sorry, more cars

I've opened my presents, read all the labels, and now what to do before the kids & outlaws arrive ?\rSome of you may know about two drivers (Phil Jeffries & Brian Walker) who borrowed a race-prepared F1 engine from Shenstone to put in their hill-climb car, shared the drive in the 1100cc clas...

Dave Elston, where are you ??

I'd like to get in touch with Dave Elston again.\rHe worked at Mid-West Engines until about 1999 / 2000 and raced a hovercraft powered by a single rotor engine. He transferred to Ralliart Germany as a coded welder working on preparation of Mitsubishi rally cars, but I haven't heard of him since. His...

What's happened to our forum ?

I feel I'm as guilty as anyone - but what happened to discussion on the site ? Doesn't anyone want to talk about anything, post a picture or two of their bike, a 'where's this?' photo, or suggest an informal meet ?\rIs it perhaps something to do with the appalling number of p*rn sites that invade ev...

Indian rotary

This engine looks amazingly like the Norton NR731 of the late 80's ; it was designed/developed at Shenstone for a 300mph delta-winged target drone launched up a ramp by bungee cords.\rA very simple 208cc design, using Norton-patented ram air for rotor cooling and direct drive to a propeller ; starte...
