Re: indicator relay

John,

It may not be a straight forward as a simple relay, modern cars use can bus systems, my advice would be to seek professional advice from either the dealer or a good auto electrician.

Roger/John,

When the original Boyer unit failed while in the IoM 2019 I fitted my spare previously set up Mini Mag to my Commander, I did not change any other components, trigger or coils.

John,

I converted from two batteries to one for my Commander many years ago, the battery pictures is at least 4 years old, and is still in good condition.

Best use of a day off

Making use of perfect biking weather I skived off work and did my most favourite ride over the Spittal of Glenshee, it is truly exceptional even more so when the weather is so good, my route was from just North of Aberdeen, Braemar, Spittal of Glenshee, Montrose, Cain o Mount, and home approx. 180 M...

Not air cooled but my Commander at 4k RPM on the speedo reads 70 but the sat nav indicates 65, for a sat nav 70 I need to maintain 4.5k RPM

I hope you are well.

Changes in the 10% rule is news to me but that said I am not surprised, I will ask my colleagues at the next blood bike group meeting and will get back to you if they they know anything about it.

Marco, Running any engine without oil is not good, I run a Commander and have no experience of F1's, Richard Negus who often responds to questions on this forum is the only person I know who has the knowledge you need, you could try sending him a private message. Re: Classic Petrol Tap

Thank you Richard for the interesting info concerning the lever plate, restricting the tap to only 'on' or 'reserve', both controlled by the vacuum fuel valve. I have only once run out of petrol when in the IoM, coasted to the side of the road, less than 5 mins to switch to reserve and away again, I...

Norton Rotary New Rear Chain Gaiters

Its thanks to Chris Harvey’s hard work that I now have two brand new rear chain gaiters. This means that I will be able to keep my Commander on the road for the foreseeable future, these bikes are not designed to be used without the gaiters as they provide an oil bath and subsequently the lubricatio...

The oil must be low ash, I use Castrol Tection DD40, Shell Rotella 40 is recommended, some Rotary owners use a Silkolene oil

I suspect if Morris straight 40 Golden Film was used it would carbon up very quickly

Re: Oil pipes and engine removal

Roy, Assuming your air cooled is similar to my Commander, could the oil leak be from the centre plate? The centre plate on My Commander had a plug in the tapped hole, if the air cooled are the same could your plug have been removed or dropped out? To remove the engine is not a big job on my Commande...
