Commander for sale

Dave Weighell (Pickering, North Yorkshire) says that age has crept up on him, and he now feels his Commander a little on the heavy side. Give Dave a call to discuss - +44 (0) 1751 472902 It's a unique bike, with an attractive pale green paint job. There's also a DKW W2000o/i in his stable - which he...

Re: spark plugs

I have had a response to the article in the latest mag.

One member has expressed an interest in ten of the UG80PV plugs for his IP2.

Anyone else? Remember it’s a box of 100, so only another 90 to go!!!

Hi all, We have come up against a problem in that editor Rob's cupboard is bare … and until he gets some contributions, there is not a lot to send out. If the situation continues, then we might have to rethink whether the ROC should continue as a 'club' …. or go the way of some of the Facebook Group...

Re: French Advancer

Last saw this in the flesh many years ago when it belonged to a chap who lived next to the Mid-Hants Railway; could it have been Medstead? It was, as I recall, a rather er, distinctive, metallic lime green colour.
Can you scribble something for Captain Bob to put in the newsletter please Paul?

Hi there!

Yep, still alive and kicking ... last time I looked!

This is all rather familiar...... I seem to remember you thinking I had bought a CB500F ..... but I cannot recall ever buying one!
(That’s not to say your memory is not better than mine!)

Welcome hback to) the world of rotaries.

Re: Classic up for Auction

Hi Dale, Beware! This is not 1 of the 100 Classics made ..... It is one of the machines used by the police, and then converted to ‘civilian’ use afterwards. If it were a Classic, it would have matching frame and engine numbers LE-xxx (001 to 100). More likely than not, it will have a frame number of...

Re: My "Sign Off"

Because ‘ride’ is is verb .... a ‘doing’ word .... and an adverb describes how the verb is done .... and usually ends in ‘LY’.... eg/ quickly, slowly, safely, noisily, busily, etc you get the picture?

In ‘be safe’ I would consider ‘safe’ to be an adjective?

Then you must tell him John, that as an adverb, it should of course be ‘Ride Safely!’ ....

Re: Bing carburettor problems

I had something similar with my 'oil-injection' W2000 Geoff a few years ago; never with the petroil one. I wondered if it was the 25:1 mix that was lubricating the piston in the carb, absent in the o/I version? Just a smidgeon of oil in with the fuel (Rotella 30 or 40, or Silkolene 2T I think it was...

I think you'll find the four digit number '4xxx' on the headstock; not always easy to spot with the fairing.

Re: exchange rate

The official Euro exchange rate is standard through the EU but banks etc will each have their own rates, just as in the UK where it’s wise to shop around to find the best deal.

Why on earth do you not use ‘plastic’ when you’re abroad John? You will get the best rate of exchange by doing so!

Re: Norton Rotary Classic (BSA) on ebay

John,

Prospective Classic Owners could choose a frame number of their choice, so long as it had not already been chosen.

So, if your lucky number happened to be (say) 99, you could have LE-099, even if it happened to be the first one of the production line.
