F1 thirst

Here's a question posed by a Swiss member, currently working on a F1 (owned by a French chap ….) This bike, when full, will go onto reserve at just 50 miles! It still has the Mikuni carbs. Any ideas where he should start looking to explain this great thirst? All suggestions welcome …. Merci beaucoup...

The Isle of Man has, as far as I know, never been in the EU?

Re: Forum problem regarding bogus topics

Hi all, We are being hit by bogus attempts to join the forum to the tune of several 100s a day!! Unfortunately, any genuine attempt to join is unlikely to be spotted and can often get deleted along with all the other bogus ones; for that reason, I often ask a member to advise me if they are attempti...

Re: Registration-number

Hi Jannes,

No, if the owner moved from one county to another (eg Essex to Devon), or even from England to Scotland, the registration number would not necessarily change.

Maybe the owner was a Mr Norbert Oswald Atkinson?

W2000 for sale

Have a look at this Deek coming up for sale at the NMM at the end of the month.

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1131827

Clearly, Classic 044 is not alone at being rebadged as a BSA??

Very odd, some people ……

David

PS/ Many thanks to Ian Wegner for alerting me to this.

John,

You may relax as the NGKs held by the ROC came from NGK themselves!!

Champion’s UG80PV was mentioned in the last club magazine; do you want some?

Re: KM48 owner in Australia

I have had similar with the W2000’s KC27 engine.

The ‘rubbing’ surface of the eccentric shaft broke up / pitted where it ran in the bearings, giving the awful sound you describe.

Maybe strip it down to see if your shaft has these pits?

Commander for sale

Dave Weighell (Pickering, North Yorkshire) says that age has crept up on him, and he now feels his Commander a little on the heavy side. Give Dave a call to discuss - +44 (0) 1751 472902 It's a unique bike, with an attractive pale green paint job. There's also a DKW W2000o/i in his stable - which he...

I have had a response to the article in the latest mag.

One member has expressed an interest in ten of the UG80PV plugs for his IP2.

Anyone else? Remember it’s a box of 100, so only another 90 to go!!!

Hi all, We have come up against a problem in that editor Rob's cupboard is bare … and until he gets some contributions, there is not a lot to send out. Last saw this in the flesh many years ago when it belonged to a chap who lived next to the Mid-Hants Railway; could it have been Medstead? It was, as I recall, a rather er, distinctive, metallic lime green colour.
Can you scribble something for Captain Bob to put in the newsletter please Paul?

Hi there!

This is all rather familiar...... I seem to remember you thinking I had bought a CB500F ..... but I cannot recall ever buying one!
(That’s not to say your memory is not better than mine!)

Hi Dale, Beware! This is not 1 of the 100 Classics made ..... It is one of the machines used by the police, and then converted to ‘civilian’ use afterwards. If it were a Classic, it would have matching frame and engine numbers LE-xxx (001 to 100). More likely than not, it will have a frame number of...
