Re: Which Battery?

Hi Roger I use Red Top Batteries from Demon Tweeks, they are AGM which are used in light aircraft and racing cars and can be used on their side or upside down. They don't spill acid! They come in a range of physical sizes and have high cranking outputs which is why i use them on my T160 electric sta...

I get the same thing with my Classic rep, ex Interpol2. Not just after the winter but most rides after a short period of non use, five bikes! Speedo usually swings in to life within a mile.

I would like a lifting handle for the offside of the Classic, useful for two people lifting or bungee strap attachment!
If anyone knows of a source or enough people likewise would want one, to have some made, count me in!

One other benefit of the 90 profile is more clearance when cornering, still touches the sidestand down with the 90's though.

Re: IP2 and Classic tyre sizes

Hi Mark Recently had a new rear tyre fitted, i use 100/90-18 front and 120/90-18 rear on the ex IP2 Classic rep. These work well, two ways of deciding on tyre aspect ratio. These are:- 1 With the lower 80 profile you will have slightly lower gearing, bike will be lower making it harder to get on the...

Hello JB sorry for the delay in replying, holidays etc. As i recall it's fairly easy to change the chip, carefully open the black box and replace. Obtaining a new chip from Julian first of course.

Re: Boyer ignition

My Boyer failed some years ago whilst in Spain. I contacted Boyer and they said they were not currently repairing the Boyer off the Norton Rotaries. However he said keep hold of it as if there was ever enough interest they might do repairs/replacements. I has the MiniMag fitted and can't ever see me...

Re: Commander will not idle when hot

Hi Dean

I had the same symptoms, low tickover and eventual slowing down and stalling. I kept screwing the air screws out a whole turn at a time and eventually got the required tickover and good pickup. It was a lot of turns out though!

Re: Spark Plug Prob:

Hi John

Try swapping the plugs over rather than fitting a new one straight away, to see if it cuts out on the other rotor. If so it's the plug!
If it fails on the original rotor O/S then it's possibly something else.
I had this once and a new pair of plugs cured it.

Re: Classic handlebar switches

My starter button has just fallen out of the handlebar switch, so i did a search on the forum to see about getting a replacement. Either Norton part 48-0261 or a Yamaha, part number unknown. I saw this thread suggesting that the actual button is available as an aluminium part from Startright. Does a...

NGK Spark Plugs

Hi
I've always used C8E plugs in my Classic. Went to Halfords and they only stock CR8E, which i guess are resistor plugs!
Does it make any difference to running, better/worse/same just wondered if it's only Halfords or a general change to resistor plugs?

*or EP80. Whatever it says in the Workshop ManualIn the Owners manual it shows 80/140, 85/140 and 90/140 depending on supplier, Silkolene being the only one at 90/140 which they don't seem to do anymore, so 85/140 is the one to go for.Dave
