Re: oil consumption

Hi John, on my recent trip through France and Spain i filled the tank before i left and also took two one litre containers of Silkolenes finest. At approx 1200 miles i topped up the tank with the second litre, this gives 600 miles per litre but only approximately as i wasn't checking where on the di...

Re: Losing Spark on One Rotor

Just letting you know the final outcome (hopefully), the TT1 ignition is now fitted and the Classic starts easily Cold or Hot and ticks over with no 'hunting'. The sticking floats re-appeared after the bike had not been used for over a week, a couple of taps with the hammer on the flanges sorted tha...

Re: Losing Spark on One Rotor

Having been recovered home from Portsmouth i took the Classic over to Richard in a van. We swapped my Boyer for his spare one and eventually got it running ok, so we know it was the Boyer black box failing. The eventually was another problem that cropped up, namely the new Ethanol proof 'stay up flo...

Re: Losing Spark on One Rotor

Grounded out the plug on the fins and got virtually no spark. Just the weakest of sparks, not enough to fire the rotor.Dave

Re: Losing Spark on One Rotor

I have now swapped over the plugs, plug leads and coils and tried test running between each swap ie one thing at a time. It always loses the left rotor once the engine is hot which is between 6 and 10 miles. I have taken the Boyer away from the VR and left it loose behind the side cover so that it h...

Re: Losing Spark on One Rotor

Hi RichardThanks for the reply, I swapped the plugs over and had same problem ie the left rotor dropping out. So tonight I have swapped the coils over and will see which rotor goes down tomorrow. If it swaps to the right it will be the coil. If it is still on the left then I will try to get more air...

Losing Spark on One Rotor

I am currently in Spain 27c and the Classic has started to drop onto one rotor when hot. I have ruled out fuel starvation and suspect it is something electrical, just swapped the plugs over to see if that pinpoints it if it loses the other rotor tomorrow. After that i could try swapping the coils ov...

Re: Cadwell Park

Hi John. It was good to meet you at Cadwell Park, your Classic looks good with the fairing. I put my Classic in the line up after the track action and it got quite a lot of interest. People were coming and talking about the rotaries and the Classic in particular. Hope you had a safe ride home and di...

Re: BSA thoughts?

Hi Russ.I bought a brand new A65 Lightning in 1972, the handling was good so were the conical hub brakes despite the bad press they get. However the engine vibration was terrible, 3 petrol tanks, 2 front mudguards and 2 silencer replaced under warranty because of fractures. If i went over 3000rpm wi...
