Hi As Paul suggested check the butterflies, wear between the butterfly and it's shaft will cause them not to shut properly. Even with extra springs! Goodluck hunting.John

Hi What electronic ignition box and advance retard unit do you have as a faulty original advance retard unit (the Gunsen plastic box under the seat) can give those symptons (it will only retard if the revs are held low enough to retard 1000 rpm ish) These units eventually fail due to water ingress,t...

Hi JohnYes the ballast resistor as first fitted was the same as fitted to petrol engined Transits of that eraI replaced it with a panel mount power resistor available from RS Components (a major supplier of electronic components) this required two bullet connector (i think)ended leads to be soldered...

The length of inner protruding each end should be stated somewherefor each speedo and drive (or can be measured by other owners) therefore a replacement inner can be made to order by J.J. Cables or your prefered supplierJohn

HiJust checked my spares list (from years ago)it says I have a fairing lid modified for a radio handset!I seem to remember a rectangular hinged power bulge!don't know where it was from it was s.hand when I got it.RAC or Police?Is it any use?John

Hi AllWhen commuting daily years ago I kept a fuel log on a spreadsheet as a running total to give an accurate mpg as variations on one tank could give false figures. this method also predicted when the full tank would become empty. Hi DaveTry a good 12v supply to the ignition box if the ignition relay contacts are poor you will have these symptons. I reworked the supply to the box and the problem went. I did this a few years back will see if I can find my notes for the mod.Best of luck regards John

I seem to remember both outlets were vacuum fed therefore looks like muck in tank blocking inlet gauze/filter. To increase range I went for the solenoid operated tap on the other side of the tank.(this also stops having a water trap on that side)Regards John
