Re: Home brewed rotary race bike.

Its a home made frame so not sure if a Norton would fit in a TRX. Im not sure what the tank and seat are from, he would have just had them sitting in a corner somewhere cool

Re: Home brewed rotary race bike.

Yes it goes very well indeed, we only saw it race at one meet but it was incredibly fast and light.

Home brewed rotary race bike.

A good friend of ours in Australia has a bit of a thing for unusual bikes, he owns a Hesketh, F1, home made BSA OHC singles and even built himself a V twin. Of more interest to you guys is his air cooled race bike.

Yeah I know it wont be that easy but I have plenty of time. Do you recognise this little bit, I assume it is another part of the wholegearchange mechanism?

Re: F1 prototype #2

I just thought of something that might help shed some light on the identity of our F1, Norton did a lovely glossy brochure for the F1 where they had the bike where they had sort of photoshopped see through bodywork, you could see everything under the fairing. That was our frame.

Race bike suspension linkage.

Maybe one for Wayne. Any ideas exactly what race bike this linkage was used on? It is totally different to the usual RC/RCW type linkage.

Re: That imaginary big gearbox :-)

So abit of machining to geta Commander type gearbox to fit the F1 frame then? Thats no problem, chop a bit off here, add a spacer there, its all part of the challenge Very Happy

Re: F1 prototype #2

I am interested to know why a frame would have been given one number and then given a second different number? I realise ours was a prototype but why change a number but leave the old one visible? Richard Very Happy

Re: Nose Bleed Classic

The point is it is a piece of history, it has nothing to do with the legalities. There are less than half a dozen in existence so the thought of chucking it down the road and doing irrepairable damage far outweighs the pleasure of a few rides on the road. Every bike doesnt have to be ridden, some ar...

Re: Nose Bleed Classic

I understand what you are saying but I have a Norton race bike I am (slowly) restoring but I know I could never ride it in anger, possibly a few laps of a track but it is irreplaceable so it is just too much of a risk.

Re: F1 prototype #2

Because, as you know, we built the bike from parts scavenged at the factory nothing actually matched number wise Very Happy The frame had from memory 3 different numbers which was interesting. I have the UK registration papers somewhere but cant remember the registration off the top of my head.

Re: F1 prototype #2

We also owned F1 004 but it also had at least one other number, from memory 003 but I also recall it having 001 as well which had been stamped over with asterix. That bike is now in Australia.

Re: My old Interplod.

I cant for the life of me remember where I got the actual fibreglass section, I made the seat myself from plywood, a lump of foam and a piece of old seat cover, cut and stitched. My wife did many miles on the back and found it extremely comfortable.
