Thanks for the suggestions. In the end I've gone with epoxy resin. My only worry now is ensuring that it doesn't flake off and get ingested but I think it will be ok. Paul

Hi anybody got any experience with repairing the Threaded inserts in the box section frame on an interpol 2? One of the inserts holding the carb on has failed . I'm currently looking at M8 riv nuts but l think they need to be air tight or am I wrong? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions Joe. I've just ordered some new fuel line and clips and now plan to work my way through the system. I've no fuel filter fitted at the moment but think that the old fuel line may have deteriorated in the same way.Paul

Basicaly poor connection equals high resistance equals heat. I would check all connectors including adjacent fuses. Also have a look at the wiring insulation and check for damage or signs of overheating ( hard wire or melted insulation )

Ok I'll give redx a try. The engine starts very well cold and hot. Part warm seems to be an issue, the engine does not smoke, there is no chuffing noise and performance seems good. The problem is that this engine was reconditioned by Norton in the early 90's and still had this symptom. Used to have the obligatory bag of plugs then but never really solved the problem. A friend who worked for the police seems to remember that this was a problem with the bikes then as well.

Ok so while I was waiting for the rest of the brake kit I thought I would charge the battery and try the electrics. All seem ok, I wonder if the starter motor works? All ok. I wonder if the choke is jammed? The bike started after about 10 seconds! God bless SU carbs.

Thanks for the help. I've got an off the shelf set on the the way from Startright. I'll let you know how I get on. Once these are fitted I need to get on with re comissioning the bike, it's been off the road for around 10 years, whish me luck!
