Re: Insurance

Yeah, I am fine John. I rescued a little 125 sports bike from rotting in a back garden. Single cylinder 4 stroke. Very nice little bike. New carb/fuel cock diaphragm/mirrors costing about £80.00 in total to get it back on the road. For the price I think they are very good value. I sold it for £500.0...

I changed from Carol Nash to Peter James when Peter James first started up. They were incredibly cheap at the time & better still did not require any valuation documentation for agreed value. I have used there recovery service several times with almost complete satisfaction. I have recommended P...

Re: Recording Chamber Pressure

I spent a bit of time & a lot of money at the Shenstone factory, late 80`s, early 90`s. When I asked how to check compression I was shown a pair of big gauges mounted on a board that the works used. I was told good compression was so low that normal compression testers would not record a satisfa...

You would be surprised John how effective gentle pressure applied through a lot of torque (3 foot bar) is in breaking free seized nuts/bolts if incorperated with shocking the screw at the same time.Derek.

Re: allan screws

Use a three foot bar & put very gentle pressure on it at the same time clouting the bit with a club hammer to jar the allen screw as well as driving the bit into it. Only very gentle pressure & good rythmic continual wacks with the hammer. You will need a long bar. With a short one you will ...

It was awsomely loud & went really well. David Johnson appeared to leave his braking too late at Sulby Bridge in the Senior & had to go straight on througth the air cushions & into the river meadow at about 20 m.p.h. or less.

Re: IOM issues with Rotary Norton when hot?

Just thought. If the bike did actually cut out & not chime in again I only had to hit the button & it would fire instantly & I would carry on until the next set of lights where if there for any length of time I went through the same scenario. Derek Fox.

Re: IOM issues with Rotary Norton when hot?

Hello Wayne,I dont recollect any oil stains on the collector box but, as people who know me will testify, i am not much of a cleaner/polisher of motorbikes so I rarely looked at it & it wouldn`t have bothered me if it was stained. This was all about 20 years ago so memory is hazy.I have had ball...

Re: IOM issues with Rotary Norton when hot?

I got rid of my F.1. because every time I pulled away from a stop or traffic light it cut out in the middle of the junction & then after a couple of seconds it would burst into life on an open throttle & hurl me back into the traffic at high speed. I put this down to the Mikuni carbs being m...

I have to disagree with you Malcom. The ex Derbyshire police Interpol was smeared when I bought it in 1988. I think it had about 46,000 on the clock from memory. I had got it in effect, direct from the police but through another party. It was YCH110 Y. I think that was the reg.Derek F.
