Re: Commander will not idle when hot

Hi Mike, you say that you can get the bike to idle if you just open the throttle a smidge,I dont know if Commander are the same but my Classic has throttle cable adjustment on the twist grip end of the cables, have you tried using this to get the bike to idle?J.B.

Re: Carb adjustment

I expect you will have to re-adjust the idle rod to get the choke to do its thing without loads of revs,(it took me quite a number of miles of "trial and error" before I had mine sorted)and it is a real pig of a job evil 'cos one has to wait for the engine to cool down after each adjustment, good luc...

Re: more amps

Hi Zed,I doubt very much if you will get 50mpg out of a Commander,I regularly used to get 48 out of the Classic, but very few Commander riders can get as much,(heavier bike?)and in its present w/cooled form 45 is about the norm, but good luck anyway, and if you run the carbs to lean the old girl may ru...

In addition, isn't 250/300 idle a bit on the slow side?I thought 8/900 was about the norm to keep the "charge" at 13v.(and I still can't cure the "hunting"at below 1800 evil)J.B.

glow plugs

Hi guys,A none rotory question wink,I think one(or two)of the glow plugs on my Bora are not working.
The W/S Manual advises NOT to take them out to do a sight test,(Just turn on the ignition and see if they light up cool.one at a time of course)any idea why VW advise against this? J.B.

Hi Haggler,How much"history"you have on the bike?
