Re: IP2 or Classic clutch cable wanted

I have used Venhill Cables in Dorking, who I believe may have produced some factory ones. They will require the old one to match.

Re: Commander Fuel Leak

I have also had a problem with one of the nylon/ plastic filters. The filter itself had closed up causing fuel starvation. Only been on the bike a couple of months. Ethanol!

Re: Recommendation for Electronic Ignition

Hi Tony you can purchse the box direct from http://minimagneto.co.uk/Norton-Rotary.phpOn a Commander you only need change the ignition unit itself, different story for a standard Interpol. John

Commander Fuel Leak

Heading into work the other morning, I noticed the familiar smell of petrol. I took a brief look and had a massive fuel leak from the right of the macine. That eveing I took the side panel off to investigate, needless to say no fuel leak then. However I fitted a new fuel filter a while back. One of ...

Re: Gearbox Woes!

Afraid it was me Richard when I first got the thing and was the first time I'd been inside one! But it's done a reasonable mileage so I think that's acceptable. The sleeve gear has no spacer, circlip, or groove to accept one. It carries a Triumph part number. Would that have been fitted from new, or...

Nortons on Film

Has anyone seen a film called 'I Bought a Vampire Motor Cycle'? Very silly! The villain is one Vampire Commando, and later it is chased by an Interpol II. Credits acknowledge Norton as supplying the bikes. Very Happy

Re: Gearbox Woes!

Many thanks Richard. It's an early Interpol, no sign of a spacer or ciclip! The mainshaft bearing has also failed big time! Just trying too get hold of the necessary parts!

Re: Gearbox Woes!

It does n't have the out rigger bearing. The sleeve gear needle rollers are intact which is surprising. I had expected the main bearing to have been the cause. I did replace some parts in the gearbox nearly fifty thousand ago, including fitting a second hand 5/8 main shaft. The bike has now done ove...

Re: Gearbox Woes!

Finally got the opportunity to look at the interpol again last night. With it running in gear with the wheel off the ground, getting the noises and could feel the chain jolting through the gaiters. Put the old chain on, just to confirm it was n't that and made no difference. Stripped it to the gearb...

Re: Post your favourite stupid bystander's comment.

Pulled up at red lights in south London on my Interpol resulting in a slight "haze". Another bike pulled up next to me "Your valve guides have gone mate!" My reply "It has n't got any valves" which received a look of confusion.

Re: Gearbox Woes!

Thank you both for that. I'm inclined to think it's the gearbox output bearing, but, as per Richard's comments, the sound/rate does n't make me think bearing. I replaced the chain a couple of years ago when I put a larger rear sprocket on, so think chain problems unlikely. When I replaced the sprock...

Gearbox Woes!

My Interpol has developed a problem. It's making a whooshing noise reminiscent of a steam train! It does this with the engine off and in neutral coasting. Went from nothing to quite worrying in about fifty miles. Replaced the sprocket bearings, the outer was showing signs of wear. But the noise rema...

Bought some bits from this site. Tee shirts and key rings, spinning rotor ones. Delivered quickly from the States, very satisfactory. I like the look of the rotor shaped valve caps!

A rider of an oriental machine pulls up next to me having just stopped a bit sharpish on the Commander (with the resultant haze). "Your valves are worn mate"!

Incidently, Moose makes the electronic ignitions units now available, so if you have problems with them add comments here and I'll be more than happy to pass them on. Everything he makes has a glitch, "Glith UK"!

If you would like to see a use for old rotors, go to Mechanically scanned LED clock built into a Wankel rotor on You Tube. Fell free to add negative comments as moose will appreciate them.John Berry

I just VERY gently roughened the surface which stopped slipping and hydraulic locking of the plates. Great care needs to be taken, I'm sure you could do some serious damage.

Re: Discoloured primary chaincase oil

It may not be the prescribed method, but my Interpol clutch slipped hot and dragged cold when I bought it. A light dressing to the steel plates with an angle griner and 20/50 or Rotella. I've done over 40,000 since and the cluth has never caused me any further worries. No drag, no slip and reliable ...
